Cavalli Gets a Fresh New Look
September 8, 2022“Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.”
Cavalli Estate is proud to have created a workplace where women thrive, evident by the fantastic females that occupy many of the crucial roles at the estate. What better way to celebrate them, than on the 09 August, recognized as South Africa’s National “Women’s Day”.
We would like to take a moment to introduce you to the leading ladies of Cavalli Estate, from the ever important front-of-house roles to the hustle and bustle of behind the scenes, these are the women who make Cavalli Estate great.
The celebration is not just limited to one day but all month long, so join us in raising a glass to all the women in your life. Visit our socials to enter our #WomensDayGiveaway and enjoy a 10% discount when purchasing our premium Warlord Bordeaux Blend or Cremello White Blend.
TENIEL O’HARA | Stable Manager
I am the Stable Manager at Cavalli Wine and Stud Farm and have been with Cavalli for nearly 5 years.
I have been “horse-mad” since the young age of 5 years old and simply cannot see myself NOT surrounded by horses.
As a very competitive teenager, I use to own and compete my 4 horses in Show Jumping, Dressage and Equitation and was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to ride and train with some of the best coaches in our country. When I am not riding you will find me in the sky- as I am currently a full-time student, competing my Commercial Pilot License.
Working at Cavalli stables feels like a dream I don’t want to wake-up from, from being greeted by the “children” early morning to being able to share my love for these amazing animals with our clients.
This is me – literally living the dream.
GERDA STRAUSS | Office Administrator
Growing up in a small town in the Northern Cape Province, my interest in hospitality was awakened by a passionate teacher I had in High School. After High School, I started working at a local Estate Agent whilst studying part time through the University Of South Africa (UNISA).
After obtaining my degree in Tourism Management I started my journey in the hospitality industry at a guesthouse and restaurant in my hometown. On the lookout for growth opportunities I moved to the Winelands in 2017 where I worked as a Reservationist at a hotel on a wine estate. Thereafter I moved to a guesthouse as Reservations Manager before joining the Cavalli team in November 2019.
My job at the Estate is very diversified, ranging from reservations, wine club administration, accommodation bookings and management of the Boutique, to name but a few! I love the fact that I play a part in assisting all the various departments as there is never a dull moment and no day is the same.
The fact that I am working on one of, if not the most beautiful estate in the area alongside some amazing colleagues, is definitely an added plus point. When not at work you can find me browsing second handbook stores or in a cosy spot with one of my favourite novels, as I am a huge bookworm!
AMY LYN EVELEIGH | Gallery Curator
I have worked at Cavalli Estate for the last 8 years in the gallery department, managing and curating our exhibition programme.
My favourite part of my role, here at Cavalli, is working with local artists and creatives on a daily basis and conceptualizing and planning our exhibition schedule. I also run Cavalli’s social media channels and take great pleasure in seeing guests experience the Cavalli space and all that the property has to offer.
AMBER BARON | HR Manager
I am the HR manager of Cavalli Wine Estate. As a Human Resources Manager with more than 7 years of experience, I love working with people and supporting employees to understand the organizational mission and vision statement. I believe in supporting my team to create a healthy working environment, as it is essential for a business to operate effectively. In my personal capacity, I love to spend time with my family and my three dogs.
As hobbies, I enjoy hiking, reading, and singing. I’ve been part of the amazing team at Cavalli Estate for the past two years, and I look forward to many successful years with the business.
MALIE McGREGOR | Winemaker
I grew up on a fresh-cut herb farm on the Berg River near Paarl, with both my parents being farmers. I have a strong artistic/creative streak and studied fashion design before winemaking
I studied winemaking at Stellenbosch University and finished top of my class. I won the Paul van der Bijl medal for excellence in the AgriScience faculty
I worked at Rust en Vrede for my university internship when they offered me a job in which I remained until recently. It’s given me excellent experience with ultra premium winemaking with a focus on the fantastic reds of the Helderberg
“Elegance” is as important an attribute to wine as “power” and “expressiveness” for me. My goal is to achieve the highest standard in the vineyard so that minimal intervention is required in the cellar to make world-class wines. The product should be true to our terroir
In my spare time I’m most likely to be found next to my braai, glass of wine in hand. I love to travel to wine regions around the world, with my favourites so far being Barolo and Barbaresco.
MONET JANSE VAN RENSBURG | Wine Sales & Marketing
I have been in the wine industry for 12 years. I have been a waiter, worked in tasting rooms, then made my way towards the sales side. Kicked off at Vrede en Lust as their brand ambassador. After that I worked for Meridian, and managed a team of reps in the on consumption sector. I joined the Cavalli team as head of sales, marketing and exports in Nov 2021.
I love brainstorming ideas and I am very solution orientated. It brings me joy to create a positive, creative work environment and training people on wines, food pairings and how to be the best sales rep you can be. I always seek opportunities, and I love learning.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, restaurants, exploring new wines and spending time with my friends.
JODI JARRETT | Events & Venue Manager
My name is Jodi Jarrett and I am so proud to hold the title of Venue Manager at Cavalli Estate.
I oversee client communication and manage the functions that take place in our world class venue. My role includes overseeing the catering, beverage and finance sectors within the Banqueting department.
I am very passionate about what I do and consider myself to be a detailed orientated and efficient individual. I have enjoyed being a part of the Cavalli Family for three years and I am so excited to have witnessed such growth within the Cavalli brand. In my free time, I enjoy exploring the outdoors, staying fit and active while prioritising time with family and friends.
ZOLISWA TYHODA | Tasting Room Manager
My name is Zoliswa Tyhoda, I joined Cavalli in 2020 as the tasting room manager.
My journey started 14 years ago at Stellenbosch Vineyards as a tasting room assistant.
Quickly, the wine bug bit me, and I got promoted to tasting room manager.
After that, I moved to Stellenzicht wines, some time at Zevenwacht wine Estate and then joined Cavalli Estate.
My daily role is to create a welcoming environment in the tasting room for guests to relax and enjoy Cavalli wines.
I strive to provide exceptional service and create memorable experiences.
In my free time, I enjoy visiting wineries and spending time with my 3 kiddies.
