An Intimate Night of Wine, Stories, and Shared Plates
Some experiences aren’t meant to be rushed—they’re savoured slowly, like the final notes of a great wine or the lingering warmth of a well-told story.
For one night only, Cavalli Estate invites you to step away from the ordinary and descend below ground into the quiet elegance of our intimate wine lounge. Hidden beneath the surface and seldom opened to the public, this unique space sets the stage for a Winemaker’s Dinner that promises depth, connection, and sensory discovery.
This isn’t just a dinner. It’s a rare opportunity to gather at a single table, in an extraordinary setting, for an evening where every element—from the wine in your glass to the stories in the room—is carefully chosen and deeply felt.
Meet the Winemaker: Rianie Strydom
At the heart of this bespoke evening is Rianie Strydom, our celebrated winemaker. She will guide guests through a personal, curated tasting experience—served in Riedel glassware—sharing intimate stories of her journey and the wines that reflect Cavalli’s spirit.
This guided tasting is not a lecture or a distant experience. It’s a seat at the table with the winemaker herself—a rare opportunity to ask questions, hear behind-the-scenes tales, and discover the soul behind the bottle.
The Riedel Experience
The evening begins with a sensory-driven tasting, made unforgettable by the precision and brilliance of RIEDEL glassware. With over 265 years of expertise, RIEDEL has perfected the relationship between wine and vessel, elevating aroma, taste, and expression with every pour.
In collaboration with RIEDEL The Wine Glass Company.
Dinner by Candlelight
As the tasting concludes, the lounge transforms into an underground long-table dinner—a first at Cavalli—warmed by candlelight, quiet conversation, and the heady scent of wood and spice.
Award-winning chef Lucas Carstens, recently awarded his second Eat Out Star, presents a family-style menu that is seasonal, generous, and deeply rooted in the local landscape. Dishes are made to share—just like the stories passed between strangers over a glass of Shiraz or a forkful of slow-braised lamb.
Every detail has been considered—from the glass in your hand to the seat you choose. This is more than a meal; it’s an immersive evening where wine, food, and memory intertwine in a space designed for connection.
