Cavalli Introduces New Winemaker

We are pleased to announce that the Cavalli team has welcomed our new winemaker, Malie McGregor. Located on the edge of the Berg River between the mountain range of Paarl, Malie grew up on a fresh-cut herb farm, where both her parents are born and bred farmers.

She has a solid artistic, creative streak, studied fashion design before changing career paths, and studied winemaking at the University of Stellenbosch. She finished top of her class and was also awarded the Paul van der Bijl medal for excellence in the AgriScience faculty.

Excelling in her University Internship at Rust en Vrede has provided Malie with excellent experience with ultra-premium winemaking with a focus on the fantastic reds of the Helderberg.

Her goals are to achieve the highest standard in the vineyard so that minimal intervention is required in the cellar to make world-class wines where the product should be true to our terroir. "Elegance" is as essential to wine as power and expressiveness is to her.

Here is what Malie has to say about the harvest: I have complete confidence that the Vintage of 2022 will be a success. As a result of good rainfall this autumn, the vineyards are adorned with lush canopies and an abundant crop. We trust that our vineyard will continue to produce the best Chenin in South Africa.
